For the splendid time we had at Voodoo Experience over Halloween weekend.
This was a big birthday for me, and a self-indulgent quickie vacation.
You did not disappoint me!
Lovely people, charming city, perfect weather, delicious food, outrageous costumes, and great concert.
We'll be back!

Sigh! We were there in April for both the FQ & Jazz Fests, and I miss it already.

I've pretty much decided that, if we ever win the lottery, I would definitely buy a home there.

Happy Birthday!! Glad you had fun. Come back for Mardi Gras, and you may never leave!!!! You'd be surprised how many people have come here "temporarily" many years ago (like me).

Happy Birthday! So glad you loved this wonderful city. Not to hijack the thread but can I also add my thanks to New Orleans for just being New Orleans. We had a wonderful 2 weeks there and are looking forward to FQF and Jazz Fest..roll on March 2010!
I heart NOLA!

We do need to come for Mardi Gras sometime.
We are close enough to make a road trip out of it.
I can definitely see how people return again and again, and then just finally stay.
What a charming place.
I ate so many oysters!
Jacqu, no hijack problem, and we did see several local acts; we saw Mutemath for the second time.
But even the bands from far away shared their enthusiasm and love for New Orleans and its musical traditon.
As I said before, I appreciated the hospitality, and we will be back.

We actually are trying to organize so we live there part-time and p/t in the country here. We're allowed to stay for a max of 90 days in your wonderful country so that's what we're working towards. There's just the little thing of making $$, but we'll figure something out.
It is amazing what NOLA inspires in people!
Blue, I'm glad you saw lots of local stuff..I think LA music is the lifeblood of NOLA, it has an importance like nowhere else. IMHO of course.

Voodoo Fest was so much fun! Lots of mud though, but hey, just seeing the person in the Marie Antoinette costume was worth the ruination of my shoes.

We had a ball in NO. Friendly people and good food.
Not sure if I'd want to live there though. The topography looks a bit odd.
I'm used to mountains, the ocean, the desert and the forest all within few miles of one another.
But I'd definitely like to visit again.
