I have a job offer in New Orleans. I need to know how much of the city is rebuilt. I lived in New Orleans in the early 90s. I know a lot has changed but I love the whole culture and history of the city. I live in St. Louis and I need a change I have been wanting to come back to New Orleans for awhile. I just want to know if this would be a wise decision.

It's livable. Some parts are not fully rebuilt yet, but I wouldn't let that stop you from returning if that's what you want to do.

If You have a good job ,no reason not to come back the city seems to be doing very well.There is still plenty to do but I have been down several times and found that it was very nice,I did not go look for any damaged areas and stayed downtown and from that perspective I did not find any problems .

LAst time I was there, the French Quarter, Downtown, Garden District, and Carollton were good. Much of Lakeview is being or has been restored. Metairie is fine.

The city has a very long way to go before it can be considered "recovered". Several parts of New Orleans East has seen very little progress and very few merchants have returned to that area. Lakeview is showing progress, but it, too, has a long way to go. The aftermath of the hurricane is still visible and a constant reminder to those of us who actually live here and remember what life was like pre-Katrina.
