Hi everyone ! My husband and I are finally ready to move back to Nola. This time we have three small children and alot of research is involved. We have been looking in Meterie; however, how does anyone know how we could get our children in Lusher. I kinda gave up looking for real estate in the area because it seemed like it was difficult to get in. They are young 5, 5, and 7 so I don't think testing is a problem. I heard that Tulane employees get preference. Is that accurate? We are both nurses, would it be beneficial to get jobs at Tulane hosp. simply for the access to Lusher? Any comments would be appreciated.

If you do want to look in Metairie, Metairie Academy is a magnet elem school on Metairie Rd. I think the cutoff for applying for next year is in Nov.
And they do test.

Thanks Southern Belle. I did see the Metairie Grammar School (Academy) and looked it up on Great Schools. It looks good. It's just that I really liked the idea of Lusher. We have them in a School of the Arts here and love it. Think they would excel there but it seems like qualifying for entrance is complicated.

well since Lusher is public, I would think that you would first have to consider being in orleans parish, no?

Thanks mnr3. It sounds simple right. But when I called the school to inquire I was told that even if you live in the Lusher district you are not guarented a seat. Also, some of the research that we did seemed to touch on giving preference to Tulane employees...Hence the post. We are actively looking for a house but don't want to buy in the district just to find that it doesn't matter. Three kids in private school doesn't seem that appealing to us.
