Hello all,
What's the status of medical marijuana becoming legalized in New Orleans?
If anyone has any information on this, that would be great.

Not anytime soon. At least not that I've heard of. The FEDS will always trump any state law that legalizes marijuana.

Unfortunately, I have to agree that it most likely wont be happening in New Orleans anytime soon. Medical Marijuana laws are generally enacted statewide, and Louisiana (outside New Orleans) tends to be quite conservative. In fact, Louisiana has a nasty habit of arresting and confiscating the property of visitors with valid prescriptions from states having medical marijuana laws.

On the other hand, a few months back the New Orleans D.A. suggested in a radio interview, simply ticketing people for possession and there is currently a statewide petition circulating for the decriminalaztion of marijuana possession...baby steps

In reference to the Federal laws, the justice department recently(10.09) distributed a memo to the DEA, FBI, and federal prosecutors with guidelines indicating that its a waste of time going after medical marijuana users and distributors in states which have passed laws making medical marijuana legal.

As of 2019 medicinal marijuana has been legalized in Louisiana but there are only 9 pharmacies in the whole state and only 1 in New Orleans.
