I am taking this girl that i like on a "date " trip to NO.
This is my chance to share some awesome moments with her. We will be there on new years eve 2 days before and 2 after.
Please advice me with anything that can make us have fun:
- Points of Interest
- Jazz & Blues Bars
- Museum
- Parks
- Restaurants
- Clubs
- Casino
...anything that is cute for a couple + something that only locals know.
Thank you s much

Some fun things I like:

Celebration in the Oaks City Park's Celebration in the Oaks

Audubon Zoo Audubon Nature Institute | Celebrating the Wonders of Nature

Audubon Park (bring a bag of peanuts to feed the squirrels)

Walking along the river near the Quarter

Get a Pimm's Cup (lemonade tasting delicious drink) at Napoleon House www.napoleonhouse.com

Drive along the lakefront in the Lakeview/Lakeshore area

See some plantations along River Road. Here's a link to two. My favorite is St. Joe. San Francisco Plantation St. Joseph Plantation | A Louisiana Sugar Cane Family

Take the ferry from Canal Street for a cheap river ride. I'm not sure what is still in Algiers Point which is where the ferry lands. There used to be some shops and restaurants.

Shop on Magazine Street or Oak Street.

Check out the Piazza D'Italia. Lots of good places to eat around there too.

LaBoca www.labocasteaks.com Rio Mar www.riomarseafood.com Bon Ton Bon Ton Cafe Tommy's www.tommysneworleans.com Herbsaint www.herbsaint.com I have not been but I heard a Mano is fabulous as is Domenica www.domenicarestaurant.com

Cheapo places I like: Ernst Cafe Ernst Cafe - Since 1902 - Home Nola Grocery - you can get a poboy and take it to the river or Lafayette Square because they only have one table Nola Grocery - Warehouse District - New Orleans Lucy's Retired Surfer Bar is fun - wait - you'll be on a date skip that one. The wait staff are all young cute girls with tight clothes! LOL

If you go to Harrah's Casino be prepared to lose. Just speaking from experience, maybe someone else has won there just not me. We like the Treasure Chest in Kenner. It sits out in the lake and they have live bands frequently.

That's it from me... I think I've given you all the suggestions I can think of. Have fun!

I'd be impressed if my date took me to Columns Hotel for a drink before heading on down to Frenchmen St for a bit of bar hopping and live music, followed by a late supper/early breakfast at "Thirteen", also on Frenchmen.
As Mrs Fury suggested, the ferry trip to Algiers is good. When you land, take your date for a couple drinks at the Dry Dock, or follow the road around to the Old Point Bar. Both are really great neighborhood places, lots of friendly locals.
Enjoy, you lucky, lucky people!

This is an awesome thread.

What kind of music do you like? And are you going to rent a car?

Mid-City Rock 'n' Bowl is one of my favorite "clubs" in NOLA. It's a bowling alley AND a nightclub that features various types of music from GREAT local bands, a huge dance floor. Check out their website.

Enjoy a Ramos Gin Fizz from the Carousel Bar in the Monteleone Hotel.

Oceana, on Conti off Bourdon Street, for a sinful bread-pudding with rum sauce.

You could try a stroll through Frenchman Street in the Marigny. Praline Connection has some ofthe tastiest rice 'n' beans around.

Ride the St. Charles Streetcar and get off at some point in the Garden District to walk several blocks to view the wonderful homes. The Lafayette Cemetery is intriguing.

Museums. These are about all the unique history/current culture of Louisiana: A GOOD Mardi Gras museum in the building next to the St. Louis Cathedral (and do inside the cathedral for a breath-taking look); an intriguing Marie LaVeau museum in the French Quarter (cannot remember the name of it or the street); Backstreet Cultural Museum on St. Claude for an awesome look at the history and costumes of the Mardi Gras Indians. I've been told that the New Orleans Art Museum in City Park is very nice; however, you'll be on limited time.

Cafe du Monde'. You MUST experience the powdered-sugar begniet mess.

If you can afford it, take a "tour" on a mule-driven carriage ride.
