Who will be the first to go, Sean Payton or Rob Ryan? I think Ryan has overextended his tenure with bad defensive coordination.

The Saints performance really has nothing to do with Bountygate. It's more so about poor personnel management (paying expensive contracts to players who aren't producing) and a lack of playing experience on the team, especially defense. Front office decisions are really to blame for the state of the team, not Bountygate.

Also, I think Rob Ryan isn't getting it done. Might be time for the Saints to finally admit he's a failure and boot him.

If the Saints lose several more games with a bad defense, Payton and Ryan's dismissal could occur in mid-season. Both could be replaced on a interim basis by existing coaching staff members.

I think Ryan could definitely be fired mid-season. There's a few reasons why I think Payton wouldn't be cut mid-season:

1. He has a close relationship with GM Mickey Loomis (who should probably be cut too) and Brees (could hurt the morale of the team)
2. He means so much to the franchise (chose to coach the Saints the season after Katrina, won us a SB)
3. Joe Vitt would be interim coach and we know how that turned out last time.

Me personally, I think for all that Payton has done for the franchise, he does deserve to finish the season. If he gets fired during the off season, so be it, but at least let him finish the season.

I don't see Payton getting fired at all. I think if he leaves, it's because he wants to. After Katrina, I think what he and Brees did for this city was a lot more than just bring wins to a team that hadn't seen many before. They really helped this city recover.

After the super bowl in '09 I walked outside and all of my neighbors were literally dancing in the street. Several were crying. It was definitely much more than just winning a game.

I'm not sure if it's time for either of them to go, but if they do, I think they will always have a special place in the hearts of most people in this city.

How can they look that bad against Philly, and that good against the Falcons? What a great win! Breaux looked good covering Julio Jones.
