I have read tons of posts on here about people wanting to move and needing advice....are there any companies/organizations that would actually have people who are trained to help someone relocate? I would be coming with a 12-yr-old son and a dog...I need much more than generalized advice to select a school. neighborhood, job, etc..! I don't know a soul there, but love the overall vibe of New Orleans.

There's a website Make New Orleans Home | New Orleans, La - Home that has some good information to get you started. We are moving in the next few weeks but fortunately don't have to deal with schools or jobs (self-employed, no children). We're still looking for an apartment, though, so please share any info you find. Good luck ;-)

Thanks for the info. The website is great, but there doesn't appear to be anyone to contact...or am I missing something? So jealous that you're moving in a few weeks...good luck and have fun at Jazz Fest!

I'm a New Orleans native and life-time musician displaced by "Hurricane Katrina" trying to return to my beloved city of New Orleans. I need information on job availability, and housing or small affordable apartment for one person for starters. I am a music teacher (Bachelor's of Music/Trumpet-Brass Speciality), Special Education Teacher (Autism), and Certified Nurse's Assistant). I'll certainly need employment and plan to be involved heavily in the music seen especially with helping young musicians. Please send any info. to clewis120@yahoo.com "Thanks for your help!"
