hope this isn't off limits, since it is kinda commercial, but I've finally made the move down to nola and am trying to choose a bank. capital one and whitney seem to have the most branches and there are 2 close to me here. any comments on these 2? my heart likes the older nola bank (whitney) over the national one (whose credit card commercials I generally hate), but not much else to go on, since they offer similar products. thanks in advance

I use whitney but Ive had problems in the past when evacuating and not having a branch near the place where I was staying. During Katrina I couldnt make deposits so I had to open another account at another bank to put paychecks in as I was working for a little while to get some cash and such since apparently by some screwed up filing of paperwork I was not eligeable for FEMA or red cross monies. I got a free haircut from a barber though...

We will be joining a credit union as soon as we get a local address. This one is supposed to be good and is open to anyone living or working in Orleans Parish:
