Hello ,

I will be moving to NOLA with my husband as of March 4th 2010 from Pennsylvania . He has been there a few times on vacation , I , have never been. He knows little about the areas (like which to stay away from ect.) and I was just wondering , does anyone have an idea of where I should look for an apartment. I was thinking , low crime yet not too pricey as we are a young white couple with not a lot of money. I also heard that there is a huge "goth" scene out there , which is great for us!! And one more final question , has anyone heard of or know of The Creole Gardens? We were looking into staying there for a couple weeks to look for a more permanent place to live , I just wanted to know that if anyone did stay there , how did they like there stay? Thank you anyone who is willing to help out a clueless couple from Pa.
~Tanya~

I dont know about a huge goth scene per se (I was into that a few years back...I still enjoy the music but I don't dress the part anymore)
Corrosion Wednesdays at 1135 Decatur
And Domination Saturdays at 1135 Decatur as well as Pravda on Decatur might be what you are looking for...

I moved down here three months ago and have been bitching on this forum about not being able to find a job, but one thing that did go right for me is I found a great, cheap apartment on craigslist and signed up for it after being here for three days.

If you're going to be here for a while, drive around the neighborhoods you are interested in living. There are a lot of people who put signs out in front of the apartments/houses who don't seem to list online.

Be prepared though that they may not call you back for a few days. New Orleans' time is kind of like island time in a lot of ways.
