There's one company with a bunch of rental listings. If you look at just a few real estate ads their name will come up. However, I didn't personally have much luck with them (didn't return phone calls and emails).

In terms of a fun place with a singles scene the warehouse district/cbd would be my suggestion. Vibrant, very walkable area, close to the French Quarter. However when I was looking recently it was a bit higher than your budget, $1200 for a one bedroom seemed to be the going rate in the area. It was more than I wanted to spend but I thought the location was just too good to give up.

Having said that, I saw places in the Quarter that were great and within the price range you mentioned but still one bedroom and street parking only. I would also consider uptown, very different vibe than the cbd. New Orleans in particular is a city where you need to drive around and get a feel for the different neighborhoods as well as different blocks within those neighborhoods. Each has it's own feel and things really do change block by block.

Good luck!

The Warehouse district is awesome. It is between the French Quarter and Uptown. So everything is close.

Uptown is awesome. There is Tulane and LOyola University so you have a lot of college kids there plus. Good restaurants, bars, boutiques, coffee shops, awesome.

French Quarter.
