I applied for Housing and I already had the NYCHA interview, my application has been approved and sent to the housing project I selected. I chose Bushwick Houses for a two bedroom anticipated vacancy. I called the development to find out how long is the wait, but they tell me a computer does the selection. Can anyone tell me approximate wait time for this part of the process? Maybe a recent experience so I can have an insight and possibly some hope. Any information is greatly appreciated.

I was told at the interview, after the development receives the application it will take anywhere from 2-6 months to be called to view an apartment. I had my interview in October and my app was sent to the development in late November and right now I'm still awaiting for a call to come in and view the apt.

Ok...so I'm in the same boat. This is a quick run down. They mailed me a letter stating they had vacant apartments. I mailed it back stating I was interested in the development with the vacant apartments. I had my interview a month later, backround check completed, landlord process finally comleted and last I heard they sent out a letter requesting information. Is that the choice letter? Cause It was already chosen for me. Or maybe a letter asking if I'm still interested? I have no idea, when u called did they say a choice letter was sent out or a letter requesting additional information?...I'm waiting for the letter in the mail now. Ill keep u guys posted.

I called the management office again today because I received a letter stating that I'm on the waiting list for Bushwick houses and I'm W2 priority. There wasn't any information that the person could give me. I asked her were there any vacant apartments but she couldn't answer that either. All she was able to tell me was that a lot of people are on the waiting list for the apartment size that I was selected for.

Yea it's very confusing. They send you a letter stating there are anticipated vaccines at a development and when you select that certain development you have to wait because there are also many people waiting on the waiting list smh. I don't understand that. Well at least you received a letter stating you were on the waiting list. I didn't receive anything from the development I chose, I had to call to make sure. When was your interview?

You are going to have to wait, but it might not be too long. I was called in for an interview about 2 years ago. I selected my housing development which was in manhattan. After it was sent to the housing project it took about 2 months...i seen the apartment and then it took another two months for them to fix the apartment. Sometimes they show you the apartment before the repairs are done. When i seen my apartment it was filled with the old tenants belongins...Anyways keep calling to check on your status. Also make sure you check your mail because sometimes these housing developments calim that they mailed you notification but really don't. It has happened to a few ppl i know. The computer does make the selection, it can be sooner then you think!

How does the renting process go? How do they determine your rent? Did you have the renting and lease signing before or after the apt is fix? I will cont to check my status. I really need to move and I don't want my paper work lost and shifted around.
