Hi All! I got approved by HPD and am viewing a unit next week. I am a little concerned after going in to the BG office to authorize my application to the leasing office. I signed an agreement noting that I cannot have 2 leases at once. Would I be able to sublet the apartment from my current lease while that lease is still under my name?

According to the Marketing Handbook, no:

"If approved for an affordable housing unit, the applicant must surrender any unit where applicant is then currently residing. Each member of the applicant’s household who leases rental residential real property must terminate the lease for and surrender possession of such rental property on or before the move-in
date for a rental affordable unit
or the date of purchase for a homeownership affordable unit."

I'm going to shoot for June 1st. I still have to talk to my current landlord etc. and of course it has to work for the building. I'm gonna have to get rid of some furniture too!
