I just came from the meeting MHANY had for 38 Sixth Ave. When she talked about applications, log numbers and the apartments, she said if for example they get 90,000 applicants (online and by mail) they're all put together and they decide how many to pull. If they choose to pull 2,000 then the remaining 88,000 don't even get a response (no rejection or anything). From the 2,000, they go by preference and then log numbers. If they have for example 26 apts. in the 1 bedroom, $1314 range and they qualify 26 CB preference for those apts. then that's it. Everyone else in that range for those apts is basically SOL and will get wait listed.
For 38 Sixth, it closes in March, tey will wait about a week to get any by mail convert those to electronic applications and by April, issue log numbers. They will start interviews in May and start moving people in by the summer. Let's hope they stick to that timeline. non preference will be waiting until fall or later. Also, it seems that it doesn't matter if you applied right at midnight when it first opens or 11:59pm right before it closes, they will determine log numbers, along with NYC.

Thank you for sharing. I always wondered if the earliest or latest you applied made any difference, as I've heard of people having success applying minutes before the deadline.
When they post the lottery on housing connect, usually there's a website for that building listed on the page where the apartment info is. here's the one for 38 sixth. It doesn't look like they're having anymore for this one.38 Sixth Avenue Brooklyn New York Affordable Rental Apartments
According to MHANY's timeline from the meeting, log numbers should be out next week or the week after. Waiting to see what log number I get and if my app is chosen for an interview.
