I applied for my first lotto in on west 57th. My number is in the mid - 3000's. At first I thought that was terrible but reading these numbers it actually makes me feel better. One question however, does the log number represent your order in the whole lottery, or just in your income range? Family size
I applied for the 68k-80k income apartment. I would assume that most applicants are the lower income ranges, so I'm guessing if the log numbers are for all applicants my number is actually pretty decent.
I heard the log number is for the entire lottery. Regardless, you have a very good log number.
Just make sure you don't have 50-60% more overall debt than your yearly income (this includes student loans and medical bills), or 30% or more debt a month with the new rent included. That's a major pitfall most people on these boards don't talk about.
Thanks for the info. My student debt is only about $3,000 left so I'm good on that regard.
Is the 30% accurate though?? I only ask because the rent for the apartment in question is $1,950/month whereas the income range is $68k-$80K so somebody making $70k would not qualify under this criteria. (1950*12 = $23,400....$70K @ 30% = $21,000) Even if your making $80K its still cutting it close. All I would have is this apartment, Student debt (which I could pay off now if need be), phone, and whatever utility is not included with the apartment.
This is why I was surprised at the rent price. It seems to be steep for that income level. $1,900 is a lot more than I want to pay but it's such a great deal that I can't pass up.
And there are NEVER any buildings in my area so CB preference is useless for me lol
Does anyone know if community preference trumps log number chronology? If I have a high log number (70k+) but have community preference - how does my number still matter?
And if they don't open all applications, how do they figure whether or not we have community preference?
Would this mean that everyone with community preference and log numbers below 70k will be called in before me? And once 50% of all units are filled up they start on everyone without preference?
Hi I applied for the West 57th.apts.My number was above 3,000,Was called for interview, And my application was picked for my sons disability .I emailed them and they said once they reach my log number they will call me.So after they contacted over 3,000 people then they will call me? Confused.
Can somebody explain what those log numbers mean? and how are they determined?
