This is exactly what I have been saying. All the supposed activism has done scant to help middle class families who are actual voters. Go to the polls on any given election and observe the demographics of the people who turn out. But for some reason the Democrats and NYC officials have made these extreme agendas their sole platforms.

I went to the office for a Democratic official who's office is located 3 blocks from where I hosted a community clean up. I was hoping to get garbage bags and gloves donated for the cause. His office was more intrested in putting his photo on the flyers that I made and and paid to print.

In the end I had to contact department of sanitation myself and solicit donations from the neighbors. He didn't donate a single garbage bag or box of glove. He is routinely quoted in articles bellyaching about Trump. He is only ever seen for photo op purposes and does next to nothing for his neighborhood.

They talk a good game though.

One peice of advice:
If the City only pays "one year of rent" ---DO NOT TAKE THEM.

After the one year - you might end up spending years and years (of lost rent) and thousands of dollars to get rid of the non paying tenants.

Others say that they destroy the neighbors. My experience is that they will destroy the LANDLORD.

-Unless the City Guarantess evicition within 3-4 months of not recieving rent.-

So long as New Yorkers continue to vote for only democrats this absurdity will continue. We live in one party tyranny. If you want to pull NY out of its current condition (third world dump) then you need to vote for first world politicians.

I don't see any other solution BUT to OWN. You saw that thread posted here about that mixed rental building in Brooklyn where people were paying something like 3k a month and having to deal with junkies smoking up all over the place.
Unfortunately this is what I am dealing with now. I love my building but it is time to move. This fudging loser does not work, NOTHING. Wants to leave his door open because he doesn't want to pay for AC and in addition blasts his music whenever because he thinks he is the resident DJ. Thinks because he says hello that makes him a good neighbor

This guy is beyond delusional and I'm convinced that he has a few screws loose. I mean he was in prison so I'm still trying to wrap my head around how he ended up in my building and is now causing havoc and not just on on my floor either. I can't wait to get away from him. He represents EVERYTHING you do not want in a neighbor.

Actually, there are Section 8 tenants that landlords love. Think the single mom with one child who works 40 hours/week at minimum wage. She is quiet and respectful. Nobody around her knows or thinks she is subsidized. She pays her share of the rent faithfully, and the other share is guaranteed.

Of course this is not typical, but these people do exist.

So when you lose your job is the rent adjusted downward to 1/40th of the unemployment check?

Think before you post.
