My wife and I just won the lottery on a beautiful place in Williamsburg in the 130% bracket. However our current housing situation requires 4-6 months to transition out of (we have a roommate who will need to look for a roommate with special needs). Any experience with the maximum amount of time they will give you before moving in?
I have heard of one person negotiating 6 months. HPD just approved and we are about to take a tour.
Hi I too have won the lottery on a great place in Williamsburg 60% AMI, congrats to you and your wife! I was approved last week and once I connected with the property manager, I negotiated for a September 1st start date for a new lease.
I just told her that my lease was ending at end of August and she said September 1st was fine so I would just ask and see what the property manager says. I do believe if you haven't moved within 120 days of being approved, you have to resubmit documentation for approval so I would shoot for three months but there's a good chance you may have to pay 2 rents for a month or two if you can't get your current living situation squared away.
