Another newbie question, so sorry if this is obvious. I normally wouldn't consider signing a lease without touring an apartment, but didn't know if this was one of the trade-offs people make for reduced rent. When in the process do apartment walkthroughs usually happen? Is there any circumstance in which you would be asked to commit to an apartment before touring, or is there pressure to do so?

The Stuy Town lottery is a bit unusual, but those winners have to accept or reject the apartment just based on a map showing which way the unit faces.

macnyc2003 is 100% correct! I just signed the lease for my Stuytown apartment sight unseen. They did however send some pics of what it might look like and, I was able to locate it using Google Maps and, visiting the area in person.
