Yes I have been called for many and I have won. I have also read the marketing handbook. Take your own advice and read it. I have also spoken to HPD directly so I know exactly how it works. You on the other hand do not.

Lol thank you! I don’t know what her issue is. She sounds really bothered at this point because hasn’t been called or hasn’t won. I’m sure no one here is making her bad, we’re just trying to tell her how this works so that she stops giving others wrong info.

There may be confusion regarding the housing vouchers/subsidies because case managers/housing specialists give out the information, to begin with. They tell clients that they can get any apartment (as long as the number of bedrooms isn't more than the number of people in the household) if the voucher covers it and if the landlord accepts it.

Exactly. I bet they asked a lot of stupid questions before they gained the knowledge they have. Even then, they can still be wrong. Even agents make mistakes and wrong assumptions about the rules, which is why we have the option to appeal rejections and have a second or third eye on our application.

i have. been gosthed twice because they gave the unit to another person. They wrote that i never presented documents and it wasn’t true …so I objected and marketing agent never answered, when i call they said “
we can take up to 6 months to answer ..”
-so it won’t be unit waiting for you -

So I decided to complain, explaining how unclear and very suspicious the whole thing was…i have been for that answer For 3 years now.
it seems to me like the rules are
up to the marketing agent :…shame I didn’t go to
school with them or i am their friend.

Hopefully the city will make those processes more simple and transparent because now they are not, someday …

At the end of the day… people are in desperate need of affordable housing and hoping and dreaming for stability. Instead of getting mad at people for not understanding the process or wanting something better, be mad at the housing policies that make the city unaffordable and inaccessible to the people who live and contribute to it. Unfortunately, it’s easier to punch down than punch up. It’s easier to gate keep than educate.

I do find it funny (and not in a "ha ha!" way) that there's an affordable housing crisis and the solution was to make a LOTTERY.

Most people who are upset are locals, like me.

They see people from all over the country and world get apartments so easily, when we were raised here and it's become impossible to get a reasonable place in NYC.

I’m not knocking anyone, I simply stated facts. It’s a lottery.

What other method do you suggest?

Do you have any idea how long wait list is for Section 8 and other programs?

If things were first come, first served you'd have people camping out in queues miles long to get a shot. Even then those who arrived first and perhaps stood their ground for days would be ones who stood best chances.

Only other main alternative is are various lists. Good luck with that; people have been wait listed for affordable or low income housing for decades. Some actually will die before their names are ever called.
