Hey guys! I just got a very low log number for a building 1xx and I have a feeling they will call me to submit paperwork. I'm currently gathering all paperwork ahead of time. My one issue is that I never paid rent before. I live with my parents who don't ask me to pay rent.

How should I get documented proof? What documents do I need? Do you think this would affect my eligibility?

I appreciate any feedback.

Thank you!

You can give them a copy of your credit report within 30 days aside from the rent history.

A notirezed letter from your landlord saying you live there for X amount of years will be fine. That’s what I did, they do not do credit checks anymore

They do offer credit checks as an alternative to providing your current lease and proof of 12 months of on time rent payments. I just signed all the paperwork for final HPD submission on a building this week, including being required to choose between the credit check and the proof of rent payment.

All you’ll need is a notarized letter from your parents that you live with them and do not pay rent, along with a copy of their lease. If anymore is needed, the marketing agent will tell you exactly what they want.

This should not effect your eligibility. They can’t discriminate against you because you don’t pay rent - if you show proof of your income and it matches what is listed in your profile on Housing Connect, you qualify.

Best of luck to you!!

The handbook is useful to understand the process. I think there are attachments that are missing but maybe you can locate them online.

Also, I hear letters can be notarized online now. Getting something notarized is not hard it’s just old school.

What building was this for if you don't mind me asking?

The Lois (350 clarkson in bk). I'm going though the process bc I want to see the building (it looks beautiful) and as sort of a back up to my dream building that I have a great # for but haven't been called yet (18 6th ave) because they're moving SO slowly. Hoping I get contacted for 18 6th before having to decline or sign on Lois so that declining is not a complete leap of faith *fingers crossed*.
