What happens if you're selected, but during the course of your meeting and the examination of your finances, it turns out you're in a different AMI? Are you rejected, or considered for whatever units are available in the AMI you are qualified for but didn't apply for?

I was selected and after they calculated my income with over time I ended up being in an AMI higher than what my base salary put me in. So they told me which AMI I was qualified for, and which units were available for me to pick from in that AMI based on my household amount.

So no you wont get rejected.

If they have units for your size and actual AMI, and you otherwise qualify, they are supposed to offer you one. Some agencies don't really know how to do their job and you have to stay on their case, appeal, take things up with HPD etc.

This is exactly why you should keep your income UTD on HC as best you can. Your income will update on all apps that haven't already contacted you via HC for documents and that way you are considered for the appropriate units automatically.

I was going to appeal but decided not to because when her and I were communicating she told me all the units in my real AMI were taken. Looking back I wish I did appeal anyway....

In some lotteries the AMI% rangers overlap and in others not. So it’s possible that your income might fit two different AMI % ranges. Typically it the top dollar figure in a AMI% which is the hard figure, not over x dollars a year.

And BTW, US HUD updates AMI % every spring so that can cause your income to shift from one bracket to another.
