I saw that post! But I remember when I questioned why I was selected for an 80% AMI unit when I was also in the income of the 60 and 40, my assigned person told me since I was number 4xxx that there's 4xxx -1 applicants ahead of me and those units went to them first. Idk, maybe she was just telling me whatever (?)
I've been told the same thing! When I had CB with a log number of 50k. Once I submitted my documents I was told there were a lot of people ahead of me due to my very high log number so I'm not sure. Maybe its a building by building case?
Maybe they meant when you initially apply, log numbers are distributed at random.
But once you're assigned a log number (excluding community board preference) that is exactly the order in which applications are processed.
There's nothing precluding a marketing agent from reaching out to people with very high log #s to submit initial documents, but at the end of the day, units are assigned and submitted to HPD in log order (factoring in for preferences). There's a tiny chance that someone with a 50,000 log # would get an apartment, but the marketing agency can ask for 50,000 applications up front (knowing many will not respond or be disqualified) if they want.
