I'm going to NY this upcoming Tuesday to stay with an old friend from high school that lives at McGraw Avenue in Bronx NY.

Is it a relatively safe place for 2 white males to be?

I looked it up online and it stated something about south bronx and high crime rates, although my friend suggests that its relatively safe. So i figured I would just ask people who have experienced this first hand who may be unbiased as to me visiting. Please let me know ASAP as I am rather uneasy.

I lived in a pretty poor area in Miami my entire life, I've been assaulted once and robbed once, so it won't be the first time it happened if it happens again. But I'd prefer to know what I'm getting into by staying at this place.

Hello, MiamiLife1987. I lived on Thieriot Just off of Tremont. This area is a good neighborhood, just don't go near Taylor ave. McGraw is a multi mixed community area w/condos on Metropolitan avenue. Most of the area residents are down to earth, not looking for trouble. Some come from other areas, so you just need to be alert after hours, but overall it's okay. Have a nice visit.

^ 20-30 yrs ago the bronx actually did look like firebombed dresden in ww2. it aint like that nomore, its a pretty safe place now. the stigma might still be around, but if u ask anyone who was around back then and now, theyll tell you its a night and day difference.

I wouldnt go that far. The overall crime rate isnt at bad as other cities but it still has the highest crime rate in NYC. Also, when you break it down into neighborhoods, there are neighborhoods with 20+ murder rates, 800+ robbery rates, high assault rates etc

And everyone is ghetto. You know in the hood when you're in the Bronx. People hanging out, drug dealing, smoking weed, teenagers robbing, gangbanging....its all here. I live it.

The only difference is that dudes aren't killing themselves cause of crack. But that doesn't mean you can have a false sense of security.

The crime rate in The Bronx is about 1/2 of what it is in Miami and supermario loves drama so don't let him scare you. Since he chose not to directly answer your question I will. McGraw Ave is part of Parkchester. It's not ghetto. It's fine. Not the best neighborhood in The Bronx but far from the worst.Amethyst's answer was the most accurate.

I agree with bluedog, and I am a native Bronxite. Superwario is all about scary stories...he is the Bronx's "Cuco"
