how about "Cross and the Switchblade, about how David Wilkerson back in the 80's took gang members and turned them into christians. It displays how NYC was back then.

I check google maps. You are right, it isn't Spanish Harlem. I was at 158 Street so it was Washington Heights. Harlem ends at 155th Street, but three blocks isn't much of a difference.

It was not a garden spot! Definitely not the Upper Westside either.
