Any info/ descriptions of the Manhattan Valley area (97th-110th st) would be helpful! Do people with small children feel safe living in this area?

Still a lot of the old upper west side(some projects, some sort of ghetto bldgs) scattered through there( East of Broadway) but it's OK and pretty safe . It's much nicer West of Broadway and right on CPW.

After a while, it becomes strange to see these regular threads with the same question. "Is it safe?"

Listen: New York City has the most extensive urban transit system in the world. People can go anywhere. That is to say, any people could get to any neighborhood. Just because the people living on a block have more money than you'll ever see in a lifetime doesn't mean that there can't be some deranged lunatic on the street outside their front door.

And on top of that, don't listen to what anyone else tells you about the relative safety of a neighborhood. Go there, check it out with your own eyes, and see how you feel. If you're OK with it, then it doesn't matter what someone else says. I would never let someone else tell me not to go to a particular area because it wasn't "good." They don't like it, that's their problem. Or their loss.
