Do you play Ice Hockey? If you dont that is ok because City Ice Pavilion, and World Ice Arena in Queens offers beginner adult clinics in hockey.

Try come and learn some hockey. It is a fun sport, and you can make friends with other people there.

I should have mentioned salsa dancing, its how I met my wife. I used to come to NYC from maryland every weekend. I came with no friends and left with many. Dancing is a great way to make friends and lovers. If you're in the dance scene you have friends all over the world. You don't have to be good at it either, just go and have fun.

Dancing is so much more fun than going to normal bars. You don't have to drink either (I almost never did).

Keep in mind a lot of people out there are lonely and have dysfunctional families. That will help you cope.
