Hello- I will be going into the city with the family and my brother's family. We are going to Radio City to see a show and I need a restaurant in the immediate area. I do not want a chain restaurant like Friday's or Planet Hollywood.
I gues something that would have steak, burgers, chicken parm would be good. We will gave 2 kids with us so I am not looking for something too too fancy. Does anyone have a place that people rave about????
It's not cheap, but Bobby Van's is very close and has the dishes you want (West 50th Street). Steak in New York is expensive. That area is very corporate so there aren't a lot of neighborhood, family-friendly places. You could go to Times Square, but then you get into the big chains. (Bobby Van's is technically a chain, but not that kind of chain).
The more affordable places are on Ninth Avenue, but that's a three, long-block walk through Times Square; something you might not want to do.
If you want to go to Restaurant Row (46th Street), my favorite place is Becco (Becco).

If you don't mind walking a little bit, there's a GREAT family Italian restaurant on E52nd at Madison, called Fresco by Scotto. It's not inexpensive, but the food and atmosphere are great for a family meal in the Radio City neighborhood.
