Born in Brooklyn and was given an anti-Yankee vaccine before leaving the hospital, and this was reinforced by being taught to always root for the other team that the Yankees were then playing.

A part of New York, without question. As to the second statement, I'm on the same page as Mr. Greenspan. My father, a Brooklyn Dodger fan to his dying day, made sure that his son would not root for "that team from The Bronx."

You probably wouldn't enjoy reading it, but for everyone else, I heartily recommend William Mead's excellent little paperback, "The Official Yankee Hater's Handbook." Get a copy ASAP, and you'll see that we're all members of a huge, nationwide club!

*Sigh* Here we go again! Do the words "metropolitan area" mean anything to you, Your Majesty?

A-Rod was born in NYC. Jeter was born in New Jersey. I'm not a Yankee fan, but that nonsense about the team being fake NY is just bs.

Sure, the team were originally the Baltimore Orioles, but for over 100 years the franchise has been as New York as hot dogs.

LOL... They were only in Baltimore for 1-2 seasons and that is eons ago. Do all owners come from the same city of the team they own ? I think not...

No, but many do. The Wilpons are Brooklynites. The Maras are also New York natives.
