The Yankees may play in New York but they are not a New York team. The owners are from Cleveland and the players are mercenaries from all over the Americas. Their Captain Jeter is from Michigan. The star pitcher Pettite is from Louisiana. The only connection they have to New York is that they take New Yorkers money. The same could be said about all of these pro teams.
Please tell me what team has all their players from their home city/state, has the ownership from their home city/state, and has all their funding from their home city/state. And then we can talk..otherwise..you are just another Yankee hater. Release the hate and get a hobby.

Since you bring it up, what baseball, basketball or football team features only locals on the roster?
Technically speaking, what Samyn means is that the Yanks don't have New Yorkers on the roster. To say that a franchise born in Manhattan but long since established in The Bronx isn't New York...well, that's just ridiculous. (I'm no Yankee fan, but let's be honest; I'd rather see teams play in New York than anywhere else!)
