Times are tough these days and I just can't afford to pay a resume writing service over $200 dollars. Would anybody be so kind as to upgrade my current resume, Please?
I don't needy websites, I want help from an experienced person. Although, thanks for your reply Henna.....
I guess you didn't even click on the website to see what it is, did you? If you had, you would see NYC area resource centers for jobseekers where there are REAL people assisting the jobseekers.
Sorry, if you can't be bothered to even click on a link someone suggests to you, why do you think you are entitled to free help from an experienced person from City-Data?
Instead of spending $200 (especially if you don't have it or want to spend it)
take a day and do nothing but research resumes. It's not hard to do.
You can even search for other people's resumes by searching:
for example : <your field> resume, like : accounting resume
You'll see a lot of other people's resumes that you can get ideas from.
Plus if you write it and research it yourself, it will be more real than
just someone putting a bunch of fancy words or whatever.
It depends on what type of position and in what field the OP is looking for. If you are looking for a low paying job that does not require specific skills or education, not worth it to pay a professional. If you are looking for a good paying job and/or a higher level job in management it is worth it. The resume is the first chance you get to impress a potential employer. Just because you know your experience very well does not mean that you can write a resume that will stand out. It's all about how you write it and knowing what the employers want to see.
Good professional resume writers not only know how to write very well (they are usually highly experienced writers that publish their work), but they have also written thousands of resumes and know what employers like to see and how they like to see it presented. I know several people that have used professional resume writers and the number of phone calls they were getting was amazing- 50-60% of the jobs they applied for were calling them back versus 10-20% with their old resume. And these were college educated, working professionals that generally thought they knew how to write.
I'm a professional writer and have volunteered with community groups to update resumes, teach computer skills, etc. Henna is right, if you aren't willing to do some work, you aren't going to get far.
