I used to live in a mid-rise apartment in DC which you would enter by using a fob. It was much more convenient than a key (my current NYC digs) and less intrusive than a watching doorman. It also had a concierge in the main lobby, but this was off to the side and you didn't feel like you were being watched every time you came and went. Plus their job wasn't really to baby you like a doorman. Does NYC have any buildings like this? It seems like they are all key or doorman.

What is fob? I searched the web and found "free on board" and "fresh of boat". I don't think that is what you mean.

Haha true story. I found out my ex was cheating on my accidentally by his doorman. When I came over he said "Oh yes I remember you from yesterday" when I definitely wasn't over yesterday.

Like a little electronic access. Wave it by the sensor and it unlocks the door.

I have one of those for my non-luxury building. We all call them electronic keys. What does fob stand for?

I don't think it is an acronym actually. Key fob - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
