Gelato, if you really don't feel safe riding the train by yourself, ride in the conductor's car. (Tip provided by a former conductor!) And before you leave the subway to get to Albert Einstein College, make sure you what bus to catch--you can get a Bronx bus map at the 180th Street station.
in 1993 and 2000. I bought express bus tickets to commute from my job in Wakefield to E 28th street at night. i used the 2 to the 5 at E 180th street just to see how it was. When nobody bothered me i ended up commuting that way instead, and ended up saving those express bus tickets(then Liberty Lines back in those days). I've used the 2 consistently over the years, transferring at 180th and 149th and never had a problem. Worst were loud youngsters on the 2 calling each other racial terms and talking about the physical attributes of their dates, um in fact provided more info aloud about their dates than the passengers needed to hear if you catch my drift!!! Got everyone laughing
