Long Island City (Hunter: condos, houses, neighborhood)

Hi all,

how is LIC, especially Hunters Point? Is it something similar to Williamsburg, new condos and old warehouses "up and coming"? Do they still have manufacturing there? How is security over there? I've heard that there are no supermarkets in the area. Where do the people get their groceries?

i like long island city. it is an up-and-comer, but i like it. stay away from the queensbridge area. you don't want any part of that. but, vernon/jackson down near the water is a really neat neighborhood. the only problem is that all the scumbag broker/landlords/leasing companies figured it out as soon as we did. rents down there are much higher than they should be.

Love LIC. I live on the southside which is just lovely but its getting quite pricey so I just bought a place on the northside, which is up and coming and still affordable...550 sqft studio for under $350K with low maintanance ($75/month!)
