I've noticed a lot of South Asians in that area. I believe mostly Guyanese. I have only seen one black woman walk out of a house in HPG. Side streets seem to be very quiet.

Don't forget Millionaires Row in The Bronx (most people have never heard of this area and have no clue where it is or how to get there), Morris Park, Throggs Neck, that area with those beautiful brick homes behind Pelham Pky and don't forget the quaint City Island

Douglaston, Bayside, Whitestone, Forest Hills, Flushing (and all the beautiful sub neighborhoods of those bigger ones), Jamaica Estates, Little Neck, Belle Harbor-Neponsit and Holliswood and Hollis Hills are also well to do major neighborhoods in Queens. Hollis Park Gardens is not South or East Indian in composition. It's mainly people from the Caribbean (Guyanese, Trinidadian, Haiti, etc.), East Indians, American blacks and whites.

You are correct. The most expensive home in Brooklyn sold until recently, was in the Sephartic Jewish section of Brooklyn (the name escapes me at the moment), but I'll call it Gravesend, as some one else said. I think the last few transactions in Brooklyn Heights recently has surpassed that now (over $10million vs the $7.5 million Gravesend home).

Also Expensive areas in Brooklyn (besides the aforementioned) are DUMBO, Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, Manhattan Beach, Fort Greene, Seaview, Breezy Point (if you consider this Brooklyn and not Queens) and Marine Park and Bayridge. Brighton Beach, also has a big expensive Condo development.

Jamaica is a postal district and not a neighborhood, which includes many neighborhoods, including South Jamaica, Jamaica Hills, Jamaica Estates, etc.. Flushing is a postal district as well, that includes the neighborhoods of Bayside, Flushing, etc.

Expensive neighborhoods in Staten Island are plenty, like Queens. Whether your talking about parts of Light House Hill, Tottenville, Grymes Hill, etc. and many of the Coastal areas, etc.; there are many there. But yes; Todt Hill is the King! Beautiful Real Estate there!

And the earlier poster was sooo right, regarding neighborhoods where people live, relative to price, commuting time and who your neighbors are. Let's not be elitist or judgmental here now! If you were a boss, these people would be your workers that would need to show up on time, with the easy subway commute to Manhattan or downtown Brooklyn.
