Far Rockaway and Brownsville

Far Rock is a war zone it might as well be its own borough. Brownsville is no joke either...both places are home to some of the most violent projects in the city(Edgemere, 40's, Redfern, Hammels, Tilden, Howard, Marcus Garvey Village, Seth Low).

Also I know there are places in the BX that are just as bad, Im just more familiar wit Queens n Brooklyn.

The South Bronx is straight up hood.

I used to work around the Yankee stadium (back in 2005) and during the summer months after 9pm when it gets dark, the hood would take a life of its own. I don't how it is now (haven't been to the Bronx in 5 yrs!) but back then it was pretty rough.

I see that the L.E.S occasionally makes an appearance in this thread. Is this any way an accurate account of the L.E.S today? Or more a leftover remnant of a previous reputation? Is it based totally on the houses along Ave D? Or are there 'rough' parts of this area that I'm unaware of?

It's mostly referred to any housing project on the Lower East Side, with Lillian Wald Houses/Jacob Riis Houses being the most mentioned due to their size (Avenue D).

Right, because this is so ghetto, right?

Are sections of it bad? Yes.
Should it be on any sort of list for "Roughest part of NYC"? No way in hell.

That would be the approximately 7 foot radius that surrounds me wherever I go when I'm out & about.
