Hope someone can help us out..
We´re a family of 3 (toddler, 5 yrs) considering a move to Astoria Queens. We´d like for our son to get admission to PS 122 Mamie Fay School, but we have no idea which streets/avenues/boulevards are zoned to this specific school..Can anyone help me out?
Also, reading through other threads in this forum, it seems some ares of Astoria are not that nice (safety, crime). But which ones to avoid?
We´re young professionals who like an urban feel, though we´re bohemian more than hipsters, we´d like to live in a neighbourhood which has enough urban life to not feel jammed in a claustrophobic suburbian area.
We´d love to live somewhere which is safe for walking (also during evenings), close to transportation into Manhattan, preferrably in a two-or three family house, and most importantly is zoned to the abovementioned school.
We´d greatly appreciate any information on these topics.
Thank you very much

I'd start by looking at the school's website, which includes a map of the general area.

You can call the school directly, or try typing addresses into the DOE Mapping Program (http://maps.nycboe.net/index.asp - broken link) page, to find out the specific boundaries.

Best of luck to you!

I realize this thread is outdated but this is for anyone who may read this in the future.
PS 122 is a great school. However you have to be gifted in order to attend. Regular public schools in Astoria range from average to terrible.
