I was wondering if anybody knew much about any of these developments? Safety, costs, or how to get an apartment in any of them? Any recommendations? Thanks.
Starrett City is a decent area to live (I moved here 2 yrs ago) I think it's also dependent upon the section you receive. The sections closer to the belt pkwy are more quieter then the sections near flatlands ave. the process is usually 12 months. I have no roaches but do see an occasional mouse here and there (slot underneath the door are really high) other than that I have no complaints. Any other questions please feel free.

Thank you very much. Is there a web site or phone number to call for an application?
Are you serious? The place is known for having mice. Next!!!! Move on.
Lol! I'm not saying I'm definitely going to move in...just investigating. And it's NYC. If I have to deal with the occasional mouse, it's not the end of the world....I think lol.

LOL! You're probably right. You have to consider the source. I'm afraid of squirrels.
BTW, I saw a black one in Westchester Square today. I haven't seen one of those since I visited Toronto about 10 years ago. I didn't know they were found in the City.

I lived in Starrett City for almost 20 years and never saw a mouse in an apartment.I saw hugre rats outside and roaches in every apartment no matter how clean, but when I lived there they exterminated your apt. 2x a year.Lots of Squirrels and pigeons but they aren't going to be sharing your house with you.
Of the 3 housing developments you asked about I would say Starrett is the best choice and whoever said to look for a vacancy in a building closer to the Belt Parkway end of Penn.Ave than the Flatlands Ave ends 100% correct. If you have to get into the city add about 30-45 minutes to your commute.
