Anyone remember?
Van Kleek Street
The Steps
57th Street Park
Houses of the Holy
Juniper Park (little park, Bleechers)
The Arcade on Queens Blvd.
I remember Van Kleeck very well,Although I lived on Haspel St. up the block from Johnnys Pizzera. Van Kleeck was my home especially the years 1978-1982. I use to hang out with Shorty,Willie, Beatrice, Timo, my ex Stacey (first love),Linda,Pete (Navy)Julio, shorty 140, Bruce, Lost touch with all of them, wondering what came about them.Remember Holloween back then on Van Kleeck street. Don't know how it is now but back in the days it was referred to as "SP*C LAND". It was a cool block. Remember drinking 32 oz and plugging the radio to the lamp post blasting WbLs & WKTU. Lots of good memory... I attended Ascension and one year of JHS 73, then went to Newtown. I can be reached at LowkeeAngel@aol.com
Wow...
I started hanging there around 1983/84. The only name that sounds familiar is Stacey. My friend had a sister named Stacey. They lived on Van Kleek for awhile then moved a few blocks away near St. Alaberts (spelling ?). I went to Newtown also. I remember running around during Halloween having egg fights in that area. The area is so different now.
I used to work at a supermarket(Shopwells/A&P) on the other side of QB,at the corner of Broadway and Corona Ave back in the late 80's.
Remember L"AMOURS East? It was closed down a long time ago,now it is a Korean nightclub. How about that pool hall, the Golden Q? I used to hang out there when cutting high school(Newtown).
I remember L'AMOURS East. I was too young to go when they were there. I remember Roller Park which was at the same location before. Do you remember an arcade that was open for a short period of time on QB. I think it was there in 1984. It was across from the Party supply place.
Location: Concrete jungle where dreams are made of.

I was a kid when i went to Maspeth often to visit my Aunt and Uncle. I remember when PS 153 wasn't there yet and there was a supermarket there, which was then turned into the police academy, and then to the school that's there presently.

I don't remember that arcade, yeah that Party Time store has been there forever. Just about everything around it has been demolished and new multiple unit buildings built. South Elmhurst was always the nicest part of Elmhurst. Obviously the closer you get to Roosevelt Ave the grittier it gets.

What used to be in the Stop and shop mall area?
That is a very good question about what was there before Stop and Shop. I don't remember. I grew up on the other side of Queens Blvd, near the Elmhurst/Woodside border. I do remember very well the Elmhurst gas tanks on grand ave.
