Hi,
I just moved into an apt on the UES and am trying to set up internet. I'm new to the city, so just looking to find out what the best/recommended internet service providers are here? The other issue is that I don't think the place is cable ready... how long would it take to set up cable for a place that isn't prewired already? Cable would be my preference, but if that takes too long, what are my best other options? Thank you!

If your place has never had cable, you probably will need a technician to come out from Time Warner to install the cable for you.

RoadRunner Cable or DSL. I recommend Speakeasy for DSL.

If you can get RCN (some places in Manhattan can, I'm sitting in one right now ), then they're highly recommended.

I would recommend Fios or RCN over Time Warner...My God talk about Sloooooowwwwwwww....On my Wifi if it's just one PC the connection is fine, Not Blazing but its managable...Now if 2 or more get on the connection LOOK for it to slow to a crawl and this is just both browsing, no DL'ing...

I wish we had Optimum in the City as well, I would switch in a heartbeat, much better service.
