Ok so I'm not from NY and I've heard about the DR Day Parade, PR Day Parade and the West Indian Day Parade. I just recently found out about the AA Day Parade so I searched some videos on youtube. I noticed all the other "Day Parade" have way more views, comments and videos. My question is, is the AA Day Parade not really significant? Do as many people attend the AA Day Parade as much as all the others ones?

I've lived here all my life and I've never heard of this.
Google brought me there, so, I guess it is not significant.

I think a lot of people don't know about it because it takes place in Harlem.I stumbled on it once by accident as was amazed that I had never heard of it either.

Sounds like they need to do some advertising.

I thought blacks were too mainstream(parades usually fall along ethnic lines, not racial) to have their own parade. When is this parade?

I've seen this parade- I think it's in September and goes on in East Harlem along ... maybe Park Ave? or a little further East.

They were playin' Too $hort Blow the Whistle, which I LOVE!... but it blocked traffic to the FDR, which I don't love. : (

It's every September but and yes it's attended by a lot of African Americans and others, mainly those that live in Harlem.

It's not as big as the "West Indian Day Parade" that happens on Labor Day or "Harlem Month" which goes the month of August.

It's not a really huge parade, maybe that's why it's not that publicized but it does get recognition from the media.

...On the other hand, who's to say what might happen in future years? The Halloween Parade in the Village started off as a small thing hardly anyone had heard of, and you can say the same thing for the Mermaid Parade in Coney Island.
