We gave our super $100 to paint the bathroom. I am not sure how much a normal painter cost but it sure beat having to find a guy. I bet you could slip your super a few and he might do it.

$2500 seems very high, unless there's some aspect you haven't mentioned. Why don't you start by asking neighbors in the building, supers down the block from you, and colleagues at work? Also, try asking at hardware stores - I mean, good quality individual ones, like Vercesi on 23rd Street or Weinstein & Holtzman downtown.

If I can find anyone in my notes, I'll send you the information.

You want inexpensive? then do it yourself along with a few of your friends. I bet you are the kind of person who would post on Craigslist labor gigs looking for a painter and offering($10.00-$12.00hr).

I am sure inexpensive painter will not be online looking for work. your best bet is to find a laborer in the streets and ask them.

Thanks everyone. I am going to wait until next year - just like the old Brooklyn Dodgers.
