I don't live in New York (but I have visited twice and love the place) I am simply a retired Aussie cop. During my 25 year career I have investigated numerous sexual assaults, rapes and indecent exposures. I can tell you that sleaze-bags like this bloke do tend to 'step it up a notch' if not grabbed early in their deviant lifestyle. I have never interviewed a rapist who started out as a rapist (and killer too I might add).
If some of you blokes from the Big Apple believe this is acceptable behaviour, then it speaks vloumes about you and perhaps to a lesser extent, the way some New Yorkers see life. As has already been said, think; if this was you mother, sister, wife etc. or even worse a child, would you "have all been laughing about it for the rest of the week...."!
The most disturbing thing about this clip is that it seems the only person in the immediate vicinity with any balls to grab this flea was the young red-haired lady herself! and more power to her. People need to step up somtimes and be counted.

Absolutely!! All the "men" who were around did nothing (except one who thought to take a cell video). If they were real men, they would have accosted this scum and carried him to the police, penis out and all. But, of course, the mentality of some of the "men" is that a woman should just "look away" or "go about her day".
It's true... this jerk has already stepped it up by rubbing himself on the female in the video. His next step (if he hasn't already done so) will be to rape someone. The "go about your day" or "look away" mentality only empowers scum liket his to take it to the next level.

Some of u kill me, expecting everyman or subway rider in this case to be some hero in disguise. Whether some folks want to believe it or not, the average person just wants to go about there day if the problem does not directly affect them. Help? for what, for who? What if a guy did try to help and the flasher at best knocks the hell out of the would be hero or at worst stabs the person. To get my help, u better be a family member, friend, lil kid or a fine woman (maybe). But wrestling down a flasher is not the top choice on every guys agenda. Some of u must think this the 1800's with lynchmobs walking around everywhere. In this century, its more of every man for himself. Sorry to break the new

No one needed to grab this piece of scum. No one is asking for a lynchmob. It would have been simple for the men on that train to simply surround this creep and TELL him he's going to the police now. To just stand around and look??? That speaks volumes about the males we have floating around. Allow a woman to be sexually assaulted and do nothing but stand there and look.
Like I said, they're not men -- not by any long shot --- they're just a bunch of things that happened to be born male.

i disagree with this behavior and think its wrong but if you expect people to make some kind of citizens arrest thats crazy. people aren't going to put themselves in the line of fire for another person unless its life threatening, thats why we have police.

Actually the actions of those guys (filming of the incident) are probably a good part of reason the guy is in jail now, so let's not get our dander up too far.
If something violent was happening there would have been plenty of people stepping in the middle of it. But to expect total strangers in a public setting to step in and make it a potentially violent situation because somebody did or said something that offended you is a little bit naive if I do say so. The woman did what she needed to back the guy off and that was basically the end of it.
