I was recently ask to come to an interview for the 42nd Street Related Tower. I applied by myself and my income meets the requirements. My boyfriend might be moving in with me be we are not sure yet. I wanted to know if I did get the apartment could he move in with me and not be included on the lease. What kind of checks do they do to find out if he lives there or not. With his income I would not qualify. I also wanted to know if I waited a year could I then add him and how much would my rent increase? If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

As far as they know you and only you will be living in the apartment. I don't think they will do any checks regarding him living there but you just have to make sure nothing arouses suspicion.

Since your rental goes by income guidelines only your management can answer how much your rent will increase.

I suggest since you will be a new tenant, I will not move him in just yet. Just wait a few months before moving him in.

Sexual!
NO just kidding. Move him in! There is nothing in NYC or NYS law that requires you to be celibate. The only consideration is zoning and having two people living in a studio or 1 bedroom is not an issue. He may be able to be put on the lease later. That would be up to management, they aren't required to do so. If it's an income thing then maybe never. I wouldn't worry about it now.
