I saw that Elaine Kauffman, the owner of this famous restaurant died a few days ago. I've never been here, what are everyone's opinions of the restarurant? Is it worth the money? And did anyone here know Elaine personally? What was she like?
I went there once many years ago. Maybe 15-20 years ago. I was with someone who knew Elaine from the old days, the mid-late 60s, but hadn't been in the place in years. Elaine gave a friendly hello. I had the veal chop which I thought was good. But what I remember most was that I had a direct line of sight to Woody Allen. Whenever I would try and sneak a glance at him he was staring directly at me, as if to say, this is what is like when people stare at you.
