Me and my friends were planning to head to an event directly across the street. I am a teenage boy, and I plan to be going with 4-6 of my friends (also teenage and male). We are all around 6 feet tall and can probably handle anything that doesn't involve weapons. Do any posters live in or frequent the area?

Dude, my five foot, 110 pound girlfriend lives in Bushwick! She has had no problems.

Bushwick isn´t even dangerous anymore.

Nowadays, it´s mostly just immigrants and hipster kids/artists.

Think of it as a grittier version of Williamsburg.

If the event is during the daylight hours, you have nothing to worry about. Get your guard up even more if it's after 8-9pm. The area is unusually dark because of the wide station above, even during the brightest of days, so imagine at night.

It's not the best of Bushwick, but it's not the worst.

The Ridgewood/Bushwick border is the Brooklyn/Queens border that runs sort of jaggedly through the streets. It's along Cypress Ave for a while, then Wyckoff Ave, then some other streets. Grove St is in both at different points along its length.

To the person who said Bushwick isnt dangerous anymore... what real estae agency are you working with? Please take a stroll down Moffat St. Madison St. Halsey St. Hancock St. Schaeffer St. Grove st. past irving and I could continue going down the list... better yet go to these streets at any moment in time like 1pm 2pm... See the thugs on the corner that are ready to pop off at any time... thats hilarious Bushwick is filled with immigrant people and Hipsters. DO YOU EVEN LIVE IN NYC????
Bushwicks demographics from last year are 62% Hispanic 32% Black around 3% Asian all kinds and maybe 3% white. People talk about how theres a sizable group of hipsters... yea that may be true but there nothing compared to the tens of thousands of poor hood rat kids that live there...
One thing I will say about what you mentioned to the poster... that area you're talking about is experiencing a decent transition like certain other parts of Bushwick and asking if any area is good when you have six guys and are all males and around six feet talk really makes you look weak... just trying to be honest bro...

Could you post a link to the demographic numbers - I couldn't find the 2010 results for Brooklyn by neighborhood. Thanks.

A link to 2009 #s would be ok, too, though there was no census that year.
