Hi All ,I am going to be in NYC over the Christmas period

Does anyone know if you can get a traditional lunch anywhere on Christmas day

I heard that Chinese food is avaliable but was hoping more for Turkey etc etc

Any ideas would be great

Not too concerned about where in NYC but dont want to pay movie star prices but I am realistic !!!!

Thanks

What do you consider "movie star prices"? Most of the traditional dinners offered on Christmas day will be pretty expensive.

Many good restaurants offer a prix fixe dinner on Christmas (similar to Thanksgiving). The mid-range would be around $50 and go up to $100+ per person, not including alcohol. That's not a bad price for three-courses (or more) in Manhattan. Then again, I'm a foodie and like good restaurants. There are restaurants that charge $350 a person (which is arguably a "movie star" price). It depends on what you're used to.

What is your budget? It's Christmas. I'd splurge a little.

Also, try the hotels. A mid-range hotel with a restaurant should have a corresponding holiday offering.

You might be able to get a X'mas dinner for $30 if you are willing to go out to Queens at one of the local diners.

I would contact homestyle or Southern places like Chat n' Chew to see if they are open on Christmas as they have Christmas-y meals every day.

If you go the prix fixe route, be sure to call ahead and reserve a table.

I would recommend you search MenuPages NYC, where you can view menus and read reviews for different restaurants. The site offers you the option to sort by neighborhood, cuisine type, price, and more.

Here is a list on MenuPages of southern-style restaurants around the city.
