I'm looking to take my significant other into NYC (I live on Long Island) for dinner. I don't know any restaurants in the city so I was hoping for some suggestions, I would like to find a place where they have live Christmas music..something simple like a piano player or small jazz band.
I'm on a budget so I'm trying to keep it middle of the road as opposed to super expensive.
1) One if by Land, Two if by Sea in the West Village. This is as romantic as it gets, and they usually have somebody playing the grand piano. This place is on the pricey side - you'll probably spend at least $200.
2) Garage, in the Village. Restaurant that offers nightly live jazz, on a stage. Not as expensive as One if by Land, and still a decent place.
A 3rd idea - NOT romantic, but for a slice of classic old New York, try Arturo's on Houston Street. They have live jazz, it's a pizza place but a great pizza place (and it's a restaurant, not just a grab-a-slice corner pizzeria). This will probably be your least expensive option out of these 3.
