the end of the third avenue el was Gun hill road station underneath the 2 and the 5 train platform. As a child I always wondered what tracks where does underneath the 2 and 5 train station on gunhill road but until recently I found out the third avenue el terminus was gun hill road.

That line used to run from Gun Hill Road along Third Avenue to 149th and was replaced by the #55 Bus.

I remember as a kid taking that train with my mom when we went to 3rd Ave.

It used to scare the hell outta me because it shook.

It was tore down after the big fire on Claremont Park & 170th St station.

I think it was also designated as the 8 train and North of Fordham road ran along Webster Ave and along the West side of Bronx Park( Botanical Garden) up to Gun Hill.
