At the mentally disturbed case I know a few people that have bipolar and there are two types... the first one is hard to handle but not necessarily violent and they tend to have mood swings constantly unless their on medication... once they take the medication they become depressed because they are not able to experience the incredible happiness along with the incredible sadness that they use to have but rather just one steady mood...

the other type is the violent type where a person can be so nice and then in an instant stab you in the back... this is very dangerous and it has to be controlled with heavy dosage... that being said, there are plenty of people who have had this disease and have never reached those levels... What I'm trying to get at is that there are people in this world that unfortunately are prone to do bad things no matter what and this disease only escalates that need to do bad... I feel bad for the mother because I'm sure she struggled a lot with her son...

I understand the whole mental illness thing and find it very unfortunate but the article also mentions 3 other murders taking place in both boroughs and I just read on NY Post about a Tuesday murder in the BX. I'm just wondering why these two boroughs have been so active lately. Not that it's surprising, just frustrating.

Anon "nowadays" is no different than 30 years ago, 50 years, ago, or 100 years ago in NYC...you are simply getting older is all. In fact....there is ALOT less street fighting in general today than probably in the last 100 years. It is "kids being kids"...but it is the exception these days..."kids being kids" today is more about spending all day playing XBOX, downloading porn/music, etc..and not about fighting.

As for the mentally ill...why is that a testament about crime in NYC? Crazy people do crazy things everywhere...so that's irrelevant to crime in NYC.

It has been a very cold winter for most thugs, especially for people who are descendents from the Tropics and AAs. Now the weather is getting warmer, and no jobs in sight besides pan handling and hustling, thugs and other degenerates or more then happy to take part in criminal activity if they can. I was talking to a lady in my niegborhood she knows alot of criminals, in the past 3 months she already knew five people already locked up serving felonies for crimes commited in the Mott Haven area. And also a couple of others who have already fled to the south! She told me this summer is gonna be bad, real bad in crime. Its gonna heat up in the Bronx and Brooklyn, Queens people they are just too horny so they gonna just rape people!

Well it sounds like the cops are doing their jobs at least. Wherever there are people, there are criminals...I do not believe it is gonna heat up in NYC, although there will no doubt be the scary headlines everyone enjoys posting on here.

Nonetheless, with the monumental police presence I am seeing in the Southern Bronx, and the crime trending downwards for the 1st quarter, the normal uptick during summer will be expected, but what makes you believe it will be higher than usual?

This past weekend shootings in the Bronx, I witnessed one of them on Willis Avenue after coming from a night out on the town. Sad enough theere was a shoot out across the street from the Bronx county court house. Sad, real sad. Seriously I have been feeling less safe lately. Also criminals are targeting those who have. Some people in the article say that things are getting worse. The deli 224 willis avenue has been on the news numerous times and recently two months ago with the stabbing in that deli. I will remain vigilant.

Shootings

sobroguy i aint tryin to call you out or somthin, but you are stuck in the 90s my dude. mad parts of NYC are dangerous still. You make it seem like everythings fine and what. I honestly want you to spend a few weeks in east flatbush(where shooting and murders have been happening almost every other day all of a sudden same with bed-stuy, or take a trip over to the South BX where its the same. I like that you really like to keep your hopes up and what not but you've gotta be real somtimes. I mean even tourist and random murders have been happenin again. Just not to long ago in East Flat some kid visting from South Carolina was murdered for no reason, another story and Uncle from VA visting family in Bushwick was stabed and robbed just because. Like i said i'm not tryin to be disrespectful but stop surgercoating things like its ok. When us people out here in the hood don't feel the same.
