I would say that Westchester ave and Watson is just very dense and congested. You have alot of people crammed in old tenements, with narrow sidewalks, alot of tiny retail stores, and overhead train. Live is definitely the word I would use..although I don't feel unsafe there at all...it's just not somewhere I ever go...there is no reason for me to be there.

I grew up there... I'm pretty sure.
@ njnyckid like I've said before when I grew up over there the neighborhoods were considered one, I don't know about where East New York ends and brownsville begins all I remembered was that as soon as you hit New Lots or East New york Ave you were in Brownsville... Mother Gaston blvd. has always been one of the worst blocks of East NY...

Oh, I know congested. Manhattan is congested... washington heights is congested... this was more than congested. This was all young black/hispanic kids walking around in groups of 5-10 on every block. I saw a good amount with their beads out too.

Andez, how has your neighborhood been so far? I know you felt the 2 previous years that crime in Sunset Park was increasing. Do you feel any different?

Andez...yes it is a different type of congested..it is not Rockefeller Center at Christmas-time congested, it is low-income black/hispanics youth hanging outside...which is what strikes fear in the hearts of whites for some reason...considering it is completely unjustified. It is especially prevalent there for some reason. But something to fear or be nervous about? I would say no...unless of course you were there for less than upstanding reasons...in which case...you should be nervous.

I'm hispanic. Guess I felt less safe then I normally would have because I was with my dominican friend who happens to be very attractive, so I guess that attracted way more attention from the guys

And njnyckid, I've noticed more fights at night and just general rowdy behavior. Last month I saw a girl fighting her girlfriend and then she nearly committed suicide in front of a truck because she was mad. It's been a bit louder at night but I don't know why.
