Sen. Kruger Wants To Ban Chatting On Cell Phones While Crossing StreetCBS New York

It is a good idea that may not have enough votes to pass.

What do you think?

I don't think such a law is practical. But I do agree that people should not be listening to ipods or talking on their cellphones while they are crossing streets as one really needs to pay attention to the cars and the rest of the traffic.

I my opinion, that is the dumbest thing I've heard! My phone and also my choice if I want to text or talk while i'm crossing a street.

Too much payoff from the cell phone industry. The industry knows that this law will pass everywhere if it passes here. The bill won't get out of the committee.

The state can't enforce a ban on drivers using hand-held phones...how do you expect them to enforce a ban on using cell phones while crossing streets? This evidently eases politicians' minds. But passing laws just for the sake of passing laws doesn't actually help solve problems.

Even if they did pass a law like this, they could never really enforce it. They should create a law where you can't sue if you get injured because you had you phone, iPod or whatever device plugged into your ear and you weren't paying attention.

It's up to the idiots who are forever "plugged in" to watch where they're walking and not sue if they fall in a manhole or get hit by a car because they weren't paying attention to their surroundings.

How will I be able to ride my bike if I don't have music. ???

If people listening to music, talking on a cell phone are stupid enough not to be paying attention.

Well, only then do you get what you deserve.

Easily one of the stupidest law proposals I have ever seen. Like, mind-numbingly stupid. Senator Kruger obviously doesn't walk and gets chauffeured around everywhere
